·         Launching human and animal cell bank, molecular biology department, microorganisms bank and plant bank;

·         Designing and setting up the Iranian biological resource network at www.ibrn.ir;

·         Membership in World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC);

·         Holding the first national congress on biological and genetic resources;

·         Iran’s membership in International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes;

·         Establishing ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management System as well Receiving ISO certificate:

·         Signing four academic and International Memorandums of Understanding with the University of Valencia and Industrial Yeasts Collection of the University of Perugia, Italy, and also Gene Research Center University Tsucuba, Japan and Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam, Netherlands plus 40 Memorandum of Understanding with Iran’s academic and research centers;

·         Negotiating and reclaiming about 7200 Iranian seed samples available in foreign banks which had been brought out of Iran (to Australia, Germany, Sweden, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Colombia and The Philippines) before and after Iranian Revolution. It is to be mention that some of these valuable samples no longer exist in the country and they are only preserved in the Center;

·         Setting up the first Iranian bank of essential oils and extracts;

·         Setting up the most comprehensive plant bank of Artemisia (it is the plant used for producing Artemisinin which is used to treat malaria and some cancers);

·         Detecting and recording 50 new taxa as indigenous microorganisms of Iran;

·         Recording the first determination of fully sequenced bacterial genomes, indigenous to Iran, in NCBI;

·         Developing important methods for detecting microorganisms called determination of genomic guanine-cytosine content, analysis of the polar membrane lipids, determination of basic compound of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or mole percentage of genomic guanine-cytosine content (C+G) in prokaryotes;

·         Long-term fish cell culturing by enzymatic method and with long-term survival in culture conditions for the first time in Iran;

·         Unveiling the collection of lactic acid bacteria and probiotics in Middle East in the second Probiotics & Functional Foods National Conference;

·         Recording and preserving microorganisms provided by Spain, India, Algeria and China;

·         Setting up the first cell lines collection belonging to Bactrian camel;

·         Establishing the first cell bank of the world’s horse ancestor (Caspian horse);

·         Recording a new Archaea species in the name of late Fereydoun Malekzadeh with the scientific name of Halipenitus Malekzadehii;

·         Holding the Asian record for preserving Archaea;

·         Discovering a rare filamentous bacterium with biotechnological potentiality; 

·         Producing specialized and lab kits;

·         Providing biological samples (cell lines, microorganisms, seeds, essential oils and extracts),

·         Offering specialized courses and workshops in biotechnology;

·         Devising outstanding methods and techniques for detection, identification and preserving.

 ·         Registering April 4th as “Biological Resource National Day” in the country’s formal calendar

·         Setting up “In Vitro Plant” bank in the country

·         Setting up mold and yeast collection

·         Creating Markhoz goat cell collection

·         Publication of IBRC’s catalogue in GCM (the global catalogue of microorganisms)

·         Discovery of a new family of microorganisms (Yeast) in Iran for the first time

·         Setting up quantitative phylogenetic analysis  system for microbial communities’ metagenomic data (QIIME)

·         Preserving and optimum use of plant biological resources by creating cryopreservation bank

·         Proliferation of endangered plant “Susan-e Chehelcheragh”

·         Attaining the second rank of stem cell research at 29th Kharazmi international festival

·         Investigating microbium capacity of Caspian Sea by metagenomics technique 

·         Identifying exclusive genetic potential from an Iranian indigenous halophilic bacterium
